Adelaide key forward Darcy Fogarty has been suspended for three weeks, but has avoided being sent directly to the tribunal for his swinging arm on Sydney's Harry Cunningham.
The incident occurred in the second quarter of the match, with Fogarty swinging his arm swiftly across Cunningham's body to lay a tackle, but the arm caught the Swan high, and he was ruled out of the game with concussion after failing to pass his HIA.
While avoiding a direct trip to the tribunal, which occurs if a suspension is four weeks or longer, Fogarty is set to miss the next three Adelaide matches, which are against Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond, unless the club tries to overturn or reduce the sentence at the tribunal this week.

Match review officer Michael Christian deemed Fogarty's act to be striking and graded it as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.
Fogarty is in career-best form after booting a match-winning four goals in the wet against Sydney. He has kicked 17 goals in his last five games as his Crows hunt for finals redemption.
No other charges were made from Friday night's match.
