Adelaide Crows defender Josh Worrell is set to face court after he was reported by police over a crash that involved the 25-year-old hitting and injuring a pedestrian on the way to training last Friday.
South Australian Police Commissioner, Grant Stevens, who was appointed to the Crows board last December, was asked by Channel Nine about the incident and his own conflict of interest in the investigation.
“I'm in no position to make any comment on the Josh Worrell matter, I have not been briefed on it. It's being handled by the deputy police commissioner,” Stevens said.

“In managing that conflict of interest there are very careful considerations as to whether I'm briefed or not.”
The 29-year-old man who was involved in the accident had sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital by Worrell afterwards.
Last week, the Adelaide Football Club confirmed one of its players was involved in a car accident involving a pedestrian on Port Road at Woodville on Friday morning.
Adelaide Crows Head Coach Matthew Nicks had alluded to the fallout of the crash at a media conference yesterday.
“It's been a pretty challenging few days for Josh (that) he's working through after his incident,” Nicks said.

“We're just doing whatever we can to support him.”
Worrell elevated his game in 2025 to become of the competition's best defensive players, which resulted in his first All-Australian selection, along with a podium finish in the club's best and fairest.
His achievements allowed him a bumper contract extension that will allow him to play with the Crows until the end of 2033.
Adelaide will travel to Sydney this week and take on the Swans on Friday night at the SCG.
