After a disappointing 2020 which saw the Crows claim their first ever wooden spoon, Adelaide CEO Andrew Fagan has resigned from the role.

Fagan joined the Crows in 2014 and played a big role in helping the club move up the AFL ranks, including a 2017 grand final appearance which was the club's first grand final since 1998.

Fagan said he's had discussions dating back to over a year ago with former Chairman Rob Chapman about a transition period stepping out of the role.

โ€œI initiated this conversation about a transition with former Chairman Rob Chapman more than a year ago,โ€ Fagan said.

โ€œIn recent times we have made a number of key decisions, relating to both football personnel and other areas of strategic focus, with a view to best preparing the club for a post-pandemic Australian sporting landscape.

โ€œThe CEO who leads the club through this process must be in it for the long haul and I am not that person, and I firmly believe this position should not be a long-term role for any individual."

Fagan added that he would like to spend time with his family before exploring further challenges in his career.

โ€œIt is demanding and intense and the football industry moves at a fast pace, and I relish the thought of spending some time with my family before embarking on a fresh challenge." he added.

โ€œMy time at the Crows has provided me with so many highlights and learnings and importantly, I will leave with some lifelong friendships.โ€

Fagan will transition out of the role and the club will aim to find a replacement as soon as they can.
