Crows skipper Rory Sloane is set for scans on a groin injury as Adelaide begin to play for this week's Showdown against Port Adelaide on Friday.

Despite being substituted out of the game during the Crows' loss to Collingwood in Round 2, Sloane remains hopeful he will be fit to play in the upcoming derby.

"It was a little bit tender going into the game but first kick, something sort of tweaked in there," Sloane told media on Monday.

"We will see how this pulls up over coming days but feeling reasonably confident.”

Adelaide are also expecting Rory Laird to return to action after recovering from a broken hand. Laird missed the opening two rounds of the season due to the injury, but is looking to get back into action against Port.

Sloane explained his disappointment in the Crows' losses during the first two rounds, noting that the team let themselves down. The Adelaide captain does remain adamant the squad is ready to turn things around.

"We just want to focus on getting our game right," Sloane said.

"A Showdown is a perfect opportunity to bounce back."

Both Port Adelaide and the Crows are yet to get a win this season and will meet at Adelaide Oval on Friday night in what will be the 51st instalment of the rivalry in the AFL.
