The 2024 SANFL fixture has been released, with 19 rounds and two state league games shaping the new season.

The opening round of the match will commence ahead of the Easter weekend, with a Thursday night encounter between Norwood and Sturt at Coopers Stadium to kick off the season on March 28.

The other four Round 1 matches will take place on the afternoon of Good Friday, with reigning premiers Glenelg to conclude the round against Port Adelaide at Stratarama Stadium.

The following week will see the SANFL have a bye due to the AFL's Gather Round in South Australia, however a state league showcase game between the SANFL and VFL's best will take place during the weekend's events.

The second of 19 home and away season rounds will commence on Friday, April 12 with the SANFL's fixture to conclude on August 24 before a four-week finals series.

A grand final rematch between Glenelg and Sturt will take place in the traditional Anzac Day time slot in Round 4, while First Nations Rounds have been confirmed for Rounds 7 and 8.

Two matches will be held on the King's Birthday - Monday, June 10 - with Glenelg hosting North Adelaide and Sturt meeting Norwood.

The Haydn Bunton Junior Cup clash between the SANFL and WAFL will take place at Optus Stadium this year on Sunday, May 19 - falling between Rounds 6 and 7.

A bye weekend has been scheduled for the opening weekend of August between Rounds 16 and 17.

The finals will commence on Sunday, September 1 and will run until the 2024 SANFL Grand Final on Sunday, September 22, with all post-season matches to be hosted at Adelaide Oval.

”It promises to be an intriguing start to the Hostplus SANFL League season while maximising the potential for significant attendance amid the milder weather.

”We are also really excited to be showcasing the competition in South Australia's regional areas, providing our country followers with a chance to watch their favourite teams up close, in familiar locations.”
