Young West Coast tall Cooper Duff-Tytler put his hand up for an AFL recall in the WAFL on Saturday evening, kicking four goals in a 12-point victory over West Perth.
Duff-Tytler has played 12 games in his debut season, but suffered a calf injury against Carlton in Round 16, sidelining him for three weeks with the club choosing to ease him back through the state league.
He also had 18 disposals and took six marks in a near best afield performance.
While he has only kicked three goals in his 12 games this season, the Eagles have backed him as he has added aggression and had moments as opposition defenders put time into Jake Waterman and to a lesser degree Jobe Shanahan.
Outside of that pair, the club has lacked potency, with only the struggling Richmond and Essendon scoring less points this year.
The Eagles will be desperate to put their best side on the park in the next fortnight, with a vulnerable Richmond looming before a home clash against Collingwood, which the Eagles gave a major scare in Scott Pendlebury's milestone match at the MCG.
Jack Williams replaced Duff-Tytler a month ago and after two goals across his first three games back, he kicked two of the Eagles' six in Friday night's heavy loss to Fremantle.
Meanwhile, 2026 father-son prospect Harper Banfield played his first game in Eagles colours, finishing with 22 disposals. He is viewed as a later pickup in the 2026 National Draft. Dad Drew played 265 games for the club between 1993 and 2006 but Harper's older brother Charlie did not have his bid matched at last year's draft.
