North Melbourne have moved young Roo Jack Mahony to the club's inactive list, opening up a list spot ahead of this week's Mid-Season Draft.

Mahony suffered a shoulder injury in Round 9's loss to Port Adelaide, now sidelined for the remainder of the season after playing two games in 2023.

The 21-year-old's movement to the inactive list has now opened up a list spot for Wednesday night's draft, with the Kangaroos taking pick no.2 into the evening.

Drafted with pick 34 in the 2019 National Draft, the small forward has since played 44 games and kicked 18 goals.

The Kangaroos selected Kallan Dawson with pick 2 in last season's Mid-Season Draft, selecting Jacob Edwards and Charlie Ham the year prior.

Mahony, who underwent surgery following the Round 9 injury, remains without a contract beyond 2023.

The 2023 Mid-Season Rookie Draft is set to be held on Wednesday, May 31. West Coast hold the number one pick.
