Nicky Winmar is set to be celebrated at Sunday's Collingwood vs St Kilda game to mark the 30 year anniversary of his famous racism stance.

Winmar will travel to Adelaide Oval alongside his family to toss the coin, followed by players from both teams standing side-by-side in an anti-racism stance.

Winmar's famous stance came after receiving racial abuse from fans at Victoria Park in 1993, lifting his jumper and pointing at his skin.

It has been a month rife with incidents of racial abuse in the AFL, with Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Izak Rankine both involved on separate occasions.

Ugle-Hagan emulated Winmar's stance in Round 4, after kicking a goal against the Brisbane Lions, earning the praise of Winmar for standing up for himself.

"I'm proud of Jamarra for standing up for himself," Winmar toldย foxsports.com.au.

"It's up to the new generations to reinforce the stance I made back in 1993."

AFL CEO, Gillon McLachlan believed it would be a fitting tribute on Sunday.

"The two clubs have come together. It was a big moment in our game and they've come up with something a bit special," McLachlan toldย 7News.

"It'll be a nice surprise for Sunday and, I think, a fitting tribute to Nicky and Nicky's actions."

Saints CEO, Simon Lethlean, also echoed McLachlan's remarks.

"We wanted to be respectful and recognise Nicky and support him," Lethlean told theย Herald Sun.

St Kilda and Collingwood will face off on Sunday as part of Gather Round at 4:50pm (AEST) at Adelaide Oval.
