Western Bulldogs have locked away small forward Laitham Vandermeer for another three years, keeping him at the Kennel until the end of 2028.

Vandermeer has been a consistent contributor since being taken with Pick 37 in the 2018 National Draft, playing 79 games since debuting in 2020.

He featured in the Bulldogs' grand final team the following season, and took his game to new heights as a pressure forward in 2024, playing all 24 matches.

"It's excitingโ€ฆthe Club is showing some faith in me," Vandermeer said.

"I've been here for seven years now, so the fact this deal will take me to 10 years is a bit of a โ€˜wow' moment. When I first walked in the door, I probably never expected that would happen, so it's pretty exciting.

"The club is in a really good spot. With Bevo re-signing, and the likes of Darcy, Richo signing long term, even Naughty in the forward line โ€“ it's a really promising group and there's a really good culture.

"It's why I want to be here and be a one-club player."

Vandermeer's improvement has come from his ability to start hitting the scoreboard more regularly, resulting in 12 majors from his 11 outings so far.

"Laith plays a vital role for the team each week, applying significant pressure in the forward half," EM of Football Sam Power said.

"His speed and ability to cover the ground are critical to the way we want to play, and it has been good to see him hit the scoreboard regularly this season.

"The past 18 months have seen great continuity in Laith's game, and we firmly believe this leaves him in good stead for continued improvement.

"He's a popular team man that the players will love to run out with for years to come."

Vandermeer joins the likes of Ed Richards (2030), Rory Lobb (2027), Luke Cleary (2027), and Lachie Smith (2026) to have signed on in recent weeks.
