West Coast has lost yet another potential candidate to fill the vacant senior coaching role left by Adam Simpson, with Fremantle assistant coach Jaymie Graham ruling himself out of the race.

Graham - who played 37 games for the Eagles between 2005 and 2008 - has been flagged as a genuine contender for the role, one that was dismissed by fellow options Dean Cox (Sydney assistant coach) and Josh Carr (Port Adelaide assistant coach) recently.

The 41-year-old has had senior coaching experience in the past, filling in for Simpson in 2018 as a caretaker.

However, Graham's ambitions to be a senior coach one day haven't wavered, although he's content where he's at.

"I did think about the possibility of presenting but I decided during the week that I'm not going to pursue the role," Graham revealed on ABC radio.

"I'm really comfortable in what I'm doing at Fremantle. I'm enjoying the ride that we're on and the journey so I made that decision.

“I've been given a good opportunity to develop and progress in my coaching here at Fremantle.

“I spoke to Don Pyke during the week and informed him of my decision.

"I'm happy with it.

“It is clear I want to coach one day but I am not in a rush and really enjoying my role at Freo."

Graham switched to cross-town rivals Fremantle ahead of the 2022 season and has been in charge of the forward line.
