North Melbourne defender Scott Thompson is facing a stint on the sidelines after an intentional elbow connected with Patrick Dangerfield's head.
The incident happened midway through the first quarter, with the pair on the ground after Dangerfield fired off a handball.
Thompson fell on Dangerfield and followed through with his elbow, with the Brownlow Medallist slow to get back to his feet.
