Carlton recruit Alex Fasolo has apologised to Blues fans for his Australia Day scandal in a video posted by the club to social media.

The ex-Magpie fractured his arm while wrestling with friends late on Saturday night, having consumed alcohol at house party in Richmond.

The small forward underwent surgery at the Epworth Hospital on Sunday and is expected to be sidelined for up to two months.

“I’m incredibly embarrassed by what has happened,” Fasolo said in the video.

“I know the next few months ahead are all about doing everything I can to regain the respect of my teammates, coaches ... and all those involved with the club.

“I certainly regret the behaviour that led to this injury, particularly since the club has been nothing but supportive of me since I came across last year. I’m now fully focused on my recovery and hope to be out on the track as soon as possible.”

Fasolo joins a growing list of injured bodies at Ikon Park, including Sam Docherty, Matthew Kreuzer, Jarrod Pickett, Darcy Lang, Mitch McGovern, Liam Jones, Caleb Marchbank, Tom Williamson and Will Setterfield.
