The Essendon Bombers are reportedly determined to move up the order of the 2025 National Draft and are planning on tabling a pick-swap offer to the West Coast Eagles for Pick 1.
It comes after West Coast's list boss, Matt Clarke, said the Eagles would be open to trading their first selection in the draft, should the right offer come across their table.
"At this stage, we'd be unlikely to trade pick one, but you never know," Clarke said, according to AFL Media.
"If there's some clubs that want to move up and might have multiple picks, we'll have a look at it.
"Our recruiting team will do their [draft] ratings again this week, and we'll see what that looks like."
One team that fits the criteria Clarke highlighted as a potential trade suitor is Essendon, who, according to AFL Media's Riley Beveridge, have now made contact with West Coast "around an ambitious play for Pick 1".
West Coast are expected to land the first two selections of the draft when forward Oscar Allen officially joins the Brisbane Lions, with the club expecting to receive band 1 compensation from the AFL for his departure.
As a result, Essendon will fall to Picks 5 and 6, which could tumble further should Academy prospects be bid on by rival clubs ahead of the Bombers.
Essendon list boss Matt Rosa confirmed on Gettable on Tuesday that the Bombers have also reached out to Richmond as they look to jump into the top three of the draft, having their sights set on landing one of either Willem Duursma or Cooper Duff-Tytler, this year's star prospects.

"We've let West Coast and Richmond know that we'd be keen to explore moving up," Rosa said.
"Those discussions haven't progressed too far. We'll continue working through that and if we feel there can be a win-win and that does result in us moving up, we'll look at that.
"We'll continue working on if we can get up the draft order. There's the option of moving [picks] to next year as well.
"In ranking the order of priority, the first priority would be to try and get up in this draft if we can. We'll explore all options."
Essendon current 2025 National Draft hand contains Picks 4, 5, 20, 26 and 29.
