Geelong couldn't pull a rabbit out of the hat again, could they?
Well on Six Points, co-host Mark Stevens put "on the radar" the Cats' potential exploration of Australian cricketer Will Sutherland.
Sutherland was a highly rated prospect ahead of the 2017 AFL Draft, and was tipped by many to make it to the AFL, although he chose the bat and ball instead.
Despite showing little interest in crossing codes, Geelong has been put on the agenda for another left-field player chase.
"Speaking down at Geelong, there's been a few whispers," Stevens said.
"Normally when there's smoke, there's something happening. I'm not saying this is definitely happening, but it's one to watch. One to put on the radar.
"Will Sutherland, the captain of the Victorian cricket team, he turns 27 in October, 195cm, key forward, when he was draft age, he was rated top three. He had a decision to make about footy.

"There's just whispers around that perhaps Geelong have one eye on him. They're having a look, perhaps, can we get him now? It's a bit of a crossroad in his career. Perhaps he can go down to the Cattery as a Category B player, similar to James O'Donnell, where you get him for nothing.
"That's unconfirmed at this stage but you'd have a look at him. He can play.
"Don't rule it out. A left field one. Might be a long shot. But he can play footy."
Sutherland also plays for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash Cricket League (BBL).
A post by the club in October last year wanted to clarify speculated interest from a host of Victorian AFL clubs, as well as the incoming Tasmania Devils, stating he is contracted.
“The Melbourne Renegades confirm captain Will Sutherland will not be part of any discussions this AFL Trade Period despite his U/18 promise, f̶a̶u̶x̶ significant interest from all 10 VFL clubs and the sizeable war chest on offer from Tassie. Will remains contracted and fully committed to the Renegades.”

Sutherland played three games for Vic Metro in 2017, kicking five goals and averaging more than 10 disposals in each outing.
His father, James, was a director at Geelong on a part-time basis from 2019 to 2025. The family is Cats supporters.
The competition has multiple cricket-AFL cross jumpers.
Western Bulldogs' James O'Donnell made the switch to the pigskin ahead of the 2023 season as a Category B Rookie, and has carved out 59 games in the tri-colours.
Collingwood took a punt on Hobart Hurricanes player Wil Parker after they claimed the premiership. He has played 14 games for the Pies.
Gold Coast welcomed Zak Evans, who played cricket with Sutherland at the Renegades. He has yet to debut for the club.
