Former Collingwood midfielder Tyler Brown has been given an AFL lifeline, signing on as a rookie at West Lakes.

Brown's signature comes during the AFL's pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), having trained with the Crows throughout the week.

The 23-year-old played 27 games for the Pies across his time at the club, making his debut in 2020, but was delisted by the club at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

Adelaide's General Manager of List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the acquisition of Brown was great for the club.

“Tyler brings experience from five years in the AFL system and knows what it takes to play at the highest level so we are thrilled to add him to our group,” Reid said.

“He is primarily a midfielder but can also play a variety of roles across the ground which we are excited about.

“He comes from a very good football family, is hard-working and driven to make the most of his opportunity so we look forward to having him at the Club for the 2023 season.”

The former Pie joins the club in the wake of both Fischer McAsey and Paul Seedsman being placed on the inactive list at the Crows for season 2023, leaving two available list spots.

Brown said he was excited to get started at the Crows following his signing.

“I'm very grateful for getting another opportunity to join an AFL club and I'm really excited to be part of a young group that has a lot of promise for the future,” Brown said.

“I felt welcome here as soon as I walked in the door and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into training with my new teammates.”
