Three-time premiership Tiger Bachar Houli has been unveiled as the 2022 AFL premiership cup ambassador, while Collingwood great Nathan Buckley will present the Norm Smith Medal at thtis year's AFL Grand Final.

The 2022 grand final will take place on Saturday, September 24 and returns to the MCG after two years interstate in Queensland and Western Australia for the season deciders of the 2020 and 2021 seasons respectively.

Having been held at Optus Stadium last year, West Coast icons John Worsfold and Andrew Embley presented the Jock McHale and Norm Smith Medals, while Glen Jakovich was named as the premiership cup ambassador.

With the game returning to Victoria this year, Houli will bring the premiership cup out onto the MCG ahead of the match's commencement, while touring with the treasured trophy in the days leading up to the game.

Houli was an integral part of Richmond's three premiership victories in 2017, 2019 and 2020, polling a total of 16 Norm Smith Medal votes in the first two flags to come second to Dustin Martin on both occasions.

Buckley, who famously won the 2002 Norm Smith Medal in his side's loss to Brisbane, will present the award to the players judged best-afield in this year's grand final.

The two clubs who secure their place in the 2022 AFL Grand Final will nominate a club icon each to present the premiership cup to the winning side.

This year's grand final will also return to its traditional time slot of 2:30pm (AEST).
