GWS captain Toby Greene says he still hasn't decided on his future as Geelong continues to push hard for his signature.

Greene has been linked to the Cats for the past fortnight and has been forthcoming about his process and where he's at with the decision.

Despite speculation about his future, with reports indicating he'll stay at the Giants, the goal-kicker confirmed he hasn't made a decision.

"I haven't made the decision," he said on the Ausmerican Aces podcast.

"That was out of nowhere. It was pulled out of the hat. I don't know myself."

The Cats were also heavily into Zak Butters, who recently nominated the Western Bulldogs as his preferred destination.

Greene revealed he'd spoken to the former Port Adelaide star in the last few weeks, but said his decision to join the Bulldogs won't weigh on his own call.

"Not heavily," he said.

"Zak, from what you read and what people said, it was 50-50 the last week or so, and it seems the Dogs became more invested in that. They upped their offer or did a few things as well, and perhaps that's what got him over the line.

"It is what it is. He's a sensational player, and I would have loved to play with, but there's a lot of players in the competition you'd love to play with, and the Dogs have got a formidable team now."

Greene said the completion of Geelong's season, which ended in a semi-final loss to Fremantle, didn't affect his decision-making.

"It didn't impact me when they finished or how their season went," he explained.

"I'd like to do it sooner rather than later. People sometimes don't realise I didn't consider them until two weeks ago. I had a conversation with them. In season for the Giants, I didn't want to think about it at all. I was captain of the footy club, had a responsibility to give everything I could and try to make sure we could play Wildcard, which we didn't.

"I just felt it was the wrong thing to do to even think about what life looked like after this year. As much as people say I'm taking the piss, hurry up and make your decision, I thought about it greatly over the last two weeks.

"I'd like to make (the decision) in the next week. There's no timeline. The Giants haven't said give me a day and they've been really open about it.

"I'd like to get it done soon."
