Three names are currently in the mix to be the next GWS Giants senior coach, per reports from reporter Tom Browne.

After Leon Cameron stepped aside earlier in the season, former Essendon player Mark McVeigh was named the interim replacement, with 'Spike's' Giants boasting two consecutive wins.

Speaking on Triple M on Tuesday, Browne shed some light on the current crop of candidates.

"In terms of the Giants latest on their coaching search, I understand they'll have another meeting later this week regarding that search.

"The names that are coming up across my phone, in terms of who they're looking at now, include (Sydney Swans assistant coach) [Don] Pyke, [Mark] McVeigh, who's obviously the incumbent and doing a pretty reasonable job, and (Melbourne assistant) Adem Yze.

Browne added that ex-Hawthorn mastermind coach Alastair Clarkson is not currently part of the Giants' internal conversations.

"So at the moment, 'Clarko' [is] not really part of that discussion just at the minute."

However, come the business end of the season, one would have to think Clarkson eventually figures into the Giants' talks, as the 54-year-old remains one of the hottest commodities within the coaching landscape.

The Giants currently sit 13th on the ladder after 13 rounds, with a 4-8 win-loss record. Matches against the Bulldogs, Pies and Hawks come next, with the Giants sure to be keen to keep heading in an upwards trajectory after a disappointing start to the season.
