SEN analyst Danny Frawley believes Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin should be under more heat from the media, with the Dees now languishing in 17th position ahead of their clash with the Eagles on Sunday.

Carlton's win over Gold Coast on Saturday took them above Melbourne, with the Demons dropped down from a preliminary final in 2018 to second-last with six games to play.

Despite a stellar campaign last year, Frawley believes it shouldn't keep Goodwin out of the spotlight, given the drop-off the Dees have experienced in 2019.

“It’s just amazing how they haven’t copped any scrutiny,” he told AFL Nation’s The Sunday Recovery.

“I’ve just never seen a bigger fall from grace. They’re totally irrelevant.

“It’s the biggest fall-off of a team for a long, long, long time.”
