Fremantle is considering departed Richmond premiership defender Nathan Broad for a non-playing role as the ex-Tiger plans a move back to Western Australia.
Both the Dockers and Eagles have been linked to the 33-year-old, who is open to continuing his playing career with the right suitor.
While Fremantle isn't exploring a play to sign Broad to its playing list, the Dockers are set to have talks with the Swan Districts junior over a potential off-field gig at Cockburn.
"Nathan Broad has been linked to Fremantle. They do have interest, but more in a non-playing role," AFL Trade Show host Mitch Keating said on Monday's live stream.
The AFL Trade Show will be broadcast LIVE AT 3PM (AEDT) every weekday of the 2026 Trade Period on Zero Hanger's YouTube Channel.
"So maybe an assistant or development (coaching) role, to help that backline you'd think, is something they have an interest in."
Broad had been linked as a potential stop-gap for injured veteran Alex Pearce, who suffered a concerning Achilles injury in the grand final. With Pearce not requiring surgery, the Dockers captain is a good chance to play the majority of the 2027 season, dampening Broad's chances of a list spot in purple.
West Coast could still come to the table, with Broad to have a decision to make on what next year looks like.
"He looms as a potential SSP (recruit) if he wants to continue his playing career. But we know he does have an interest in coaching," AFL Trade Show's Aidan Cellini said.
"Fremantle has been leading the charge, as opposed to West Coast, who have been previously linked, and he has a few connections at the club through former Richmond players, but we think Fremantle might be the likely landing spot for Nathan Broad."
