Australians pride ourselves on being fast on the wit and quicker on the lip.
Nowhere is this trait quite as self-evident as it is at football clubs, where nicknaming teammates becomes almost as much of a sport as the football itself.
Whether it be for a physical trait, a play on a player's name, or an incident of infamy, Australian rules football has a proud history of players nicknaming each other, adorning their mates with aliases creative and otherwise.
Here's a look at 21 of the very best that have risen to ubiquity over the journey.
19. Jake "The Package" Stringer
The term "burst onto the scene" gets thrown around a bit, but rarely has it been more true of a player than it was of Jake Stringer in the middle of the 2010s.
The bloke looked like a superstar in waiting, with his build an awkward matchup for opposition players. His ability to produce mercurial moments, lay firm tackles and involve his teammates offensively led commentator Brian Taylor to label him "The Package".
Stringer really could do it all, and was a critical part of the 2016 Bulldogs side that undid generations of trauma for the Sons of the West, breaking through to capture an elusive premiership.
He hasn't quite hit the lofty peaks that were expected of him, now at his third club, but the name has stuck.
