Ivan Maric (Richmond Tigers - $559,200)

I know it’s never really a good rule to bring in a player that is at the top end of the spectrum in terms of cost but you can’t rule out the impact that Ivan Maric has had for the Tigs in recent weeks. He’s seen a return of 129 points per game in his last three fixtures, and they were against some strong ruck contingents. 123 against Todd Goldstein in Round Six was backed up by a mammoth 139 against the pair of Jarrod Witts and Brodie Grundy. His score of 125 against Port on the weekend shows that it’s no fluke, as the ground working ruckman looks a premium pickup this round. Stefan Martin looks another handy pickup if you have the extra coin.

Leigh Montagna (St Kilda Saints - $505,000)

He’s proved in his two games back that he’s still got the desire to play AFL football. The 30-year-old had a down year in 2014, but looks to be at his best, albeit coming off a 6-week injury layoff. In the last three weeks – he was a late withdrawal in Round Seven – he has amassed an average of 30 touches, five marks, three tackles and 116 Supercoach points. Well priced at just over $500k, the St Kilda man could be the perfect POD your side needs as he’s in only 0.7% of teams. Buyer beware however, in regards to his fitness.

Mitch Hallahan (Gold Coast Suns - $374,700)

All the way from left field is this one as the ex-Hawk looks to be the main player to profit from the Gold Coast’s heavy midfield injury toll. Will start at the centre bounce against his old club this weekend and is well priced at 375k to make the step up towards a breakout year. He Has amassed 24 disposals in each of his last two games.
