While players, coaches and umpires often steal the spotlight, cheer squads are the volunteers who work tirelessly to help create the atmosphere that makes the AFL special.
Dedicated volunteers spend countless hours creating banners, cheering their hearts out and supporting their club through the rollercoaster that is a season.
While every club has volunteers working behind the scenes, these cheer squads stand out. One thing is certain: AFL cheer squads are the heartbeat of the game as they travel across the country and stand behind their clubs through the highs and lows.
Here is the ranking of AFL cheer squads:
1Collingwood
I despise it when Collingwood win, but here they have taken the gold medal. Few groups can match the Magpie Army's energy and passion. When the famous "COLL-ING-WOOD" chant echoes around the MCG in the final quarter, opposition supporters know it's time to head for the exits. Collingwood fans consistently turn out in huge numbers and create one of the loudest atmospheres in the AFL. Love them or hate them, you can't deny their support.
