The Sydney Swans have announced four Hall of Fame inductees, while eight club greats have been elevated to 'Champions' status.

On Thursday night the Swans confirmed Daryn Cresswell, Peter Reville, Arthur Hiskins and Tom Bushell had been added to the club's Hall of Fame for their tenures with Sydney and South Melbourne.

Cresswell played 244 game sin the red and white across the 1990s, claiming a best and fairest nod in 1994.

Reville was a premiership player and vice-captain for South Melbourne, playing a key role in the club's 1933 grand final win over Richmond.

Hiskins, a former captain-coach of South Melbourne, was a member of the club's 1909 premiership side and played 185 games across the club's early years in the 20th century.

Bushnell won five VFA premierships across a 12-year stint with South Melbourne and won multiple club leading goalkicker awards.

The Swans also announced eight players have been elevated to 'Champions' status at the club, with Tony Lockett, Roy Cazaly, Laurie Nash, Barry Round, Greg Williams, Gerard Healy, Michael Oโ€™Loughlin and Brett Kirk all being part of the first wave of names to be selected to the new category.

Champions in the Hall of Fame have been recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the club while not being eligible to qualify for Legend status or fell short of required games played.

Lockett played 98 games for the Swans and booted 462 goals in the red and white, earning a place at full-forward in the club's Team of the Century.

Williams, an AFL Team of the Century and Hall of Fame member, played 107 games for the club and claimed the 1986 Brownlow Medal.

Healy played 81 games for the Swans and won the 1988 Brownlow Medal, three Club Champion awards and was named in the club's Team of the Century.

Cazaly is a former captain-coach of South Melbourne, playing 99 games for the club between 1921 and 1927 and earned a place as an AFL Legend in 1996.

Nash was a member of the club's 1933 premiership side and was named at centre-half forward in Sydney's Team of the Century.

Round played 193 games for the club, claiming the 1981 Brownlow Medal and the ruck spot in Sydney's Team of the Century.

O'Loughlin booted over 500 goals from 303 games for the Swans, playing in the club's 2005 drought-breaking premiership and is a member of the AFL Hall of Fame.

Kirk was also a member of the 2005 premiership side and captained the club for six years, playing 241 games and was named Club Champion on two occasions.
