Gold Coast and Brisbane have released a joint statement after Tommy Hanley lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday night.

Thoughts and prayers are with the Hanley family in this difficult time.

The Gold Coast Suns and Brisbane Lions Football Clubs wish to advise that Tommy Hanley has lost his battle with cancer.

The younger brother of Pearce and Cian passed away in hospital in Dublin on Tuesday evening.

Pearce and Cian, who travelled back to Ireland to be with Tommy, made it to Dublin in time to see their brother before his passing.

The SUNS and Lions express their sincerest condolences to the Hanley family at this most difficult of times.

Both Clubs will wear black armbands out of respect for Tommy Hanley during this weekend’s games.

The Clubs will continue to provide all the support the family needs and have asked the media respect the privacy of the players and the Hanley family.
