Gold Coast easily dealt with Southport, beating the Sharks by 48 points. Mitch Hallahan had a great game for the Suns, finishing with 36 disposals and a goal. Will Brodie (30 touches and one goal) was also good in the win.
Jordan Keras put in yet another good performance for Southport, collecting 36 disposals.
Sydney Uni 11.5 (71) def. by Giants 12.12 (84)
The Giants' senior side failed to beat the Tigers on Sunday, but their NEAFL side caused a major upset, knocking off Sydney Uni and claiming just their second win of the year. Stephen Coniglio was brilliant in his first game back from injury, he had 36 touches and a goal, while Brett Deledio had 17 disposals in managed minutes in his first game back from a persistent calf injury.
Zach O'Brien was unbelievable for Sydney recording a monstrous 36 disposals, 11 tackles, and three goals.
Sydney 25.24 (174) def. NT Thunder 4.4 (28)
Sydney have sent a message to the rest of the competition by dismantling the Northern Territory Thunder. Kurt Tippett (21 touches and five goals), Will Hayward (19 touches and six goals), Jordan Dawson (40 touches, 14 marks, eight tackles, and three goals), and James Rose (27 touches and three goals) were all brilliant in the 146-point thrashing.
Darren Ewing managed to kick three goals for the Thunder, maintaining his place at the top of goal-kicking leader-board.
Brisbane 20.12 (132) def. Redland 18.6 (114)
In the curtain raiser for the AFL, Brisbane claimed an 18-point win over Redland. Liam Dawson was brilliant for the Lions, he had 24 disposals, 14 marks, and kicked three goals. Ryan Harwood also hit the scoreboard for the victors, kicking four majors.
Despite the loss, Redland fans still had something to cheer about, with Jackson Paine and Clay Cameron both kicking a bag of goals.
