Collingwood has star Dayne Beams has returned for pre-season after missing most of last season due to injuries and mental health problems.

The 29-year old was put through his paces at Olympic Park on Monday alongside the first-to-fourth-year players and skipper Scott Pendlebury as well as veterans Chris Mayne and Jourdan Roughead.

Ruckman Mason Cox was also on the track, while Tom Langdon (knee), Josh Daicos (ankle) and Tim Broomhead were on limited duties.

Delisted veteran Lynden Dunn was training as he looks to earn a spot on the club's rookie list.

Beams moved onto the running track after the main session finished to complete laps in the warm conditions and prepare for the Pies' official pre-season opens on December 2.

He ran for about an hour, completing a series of 150 to 200m runs.

It comes after the midfielder recently went to Papua New Guinea to hike through the Kokoda Trail.
