Truly stand-alone.

Richmond's VFL side is set to line up against Box Hill on Saturday morning with zero AFL-listed players, highlighting the injury crisis gripping the club.

For context, Box Hill will have 14 AFL-listed players in its 23.

VFL watchers believed it was remarkable when there were just three AFL-listed players in action against Frankston a fortnight ago - but this is unprecedented.

The Tigers have 18 players on their injury list and play on Sunday, the day after the VFL.

Of the AFL emergencies - the only fit players on the list not in the senior line-up - Mykelti Lefau has been rested after playing the last eight games off the back of an injury-interrupted 2025, and Samson Ryan is the carryover emergency.

Meanwhile, coach Adem Yze said Kaleb Smith had been cleared fit to play, but he has not been named at the AFL or VFL level, having not played since early April.

The club managing its list carefully is sensible, given a five-day break into the Dreamtime clash against Essendon follows the Friday night match.

The Tigers are expecting to have much of the list trickle back into the senior line-up following the bye.

"The spirit is good. We've got a main training session today, and we get ready for a big game on Sunday," Yze said on Friday when asked about the vibe of the group.

"The spirit always seems to lift when you get a first gamer playing, so a great opportunity for Noah Roberts-Thompson to come into our team."
