St Kilda will keep a close eye on star trio Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning.
The Saints went down to Sydney at Marvel Stadium by 19 points, as the visitors gained ascendancy in the front half once Silvagni dislocated his shoulder.
“He's got a dislocated shoulder; it went back in. He said, ‘I've had a dislocated one before, Round 1 and played the next week',” St Kilda coach Ross Lyon said.
“He's a Silvagni, he's tough, we see his spirit, I can't believe we've got him at our club but we're thrilled.
“We'll take no risk, but we spot about moving on pretty quick (and) coming to learn your areas we fell down.
“Safe to fail, create excellence in learning as long as you're giving effort. I thought overall we did that and we've got to get onto Carlton.”
Wanganeen-Milera shook off a hip issue from a marking contest involving Sydney defender Will Edwards, who dislocated his ankle.
The speedy Saint limped from the field, but was able to return to help his team.
Ruckman De Koning also experienced issues with his hips.
Lyon also responded to queries regarding some "strong feedback" he gave to Mattaes Phillipou.
The Saints coach was at his fiery self.
“Can I dive into that? That's the media narrative,” began Lyon.
“Any time I talk to a player, it's ‘strong feedback'. What I was on about was a leading pattern. You can create the identity you want.
“We're like, let's get the team stuff done, three points, we put it on the board and talk to them. And that's been turned into ‘Ross has blasted them'. That's OK, but that's not what happened.
“Mattaes, I spoke to him calmly and rationally. But you've turned it into ‘strong feedback'.
“I was teaching him on a leading pattern when he went shallow and could have gone to the top of the square.
“I'm OK, but at the end of the day, you interpret it how you want … it gets a bit monotonous and boring, but I'll leave it with you.”
Lyon even took a potshot at the journalists.
“I always look serious; it's a serious business, you know," he said.
“I don't sit there eating party pies, and putting on headphones listening to the Fox studio to get my insights to the game, like a lot of people do.
“They walk into a media box, they put their headset on, they don't even watch the game, and they listen to the other experts to get their opinion.
“I know that, because I've seen you journos tell me that happens … it happens a lot, doesn't it? I haven't got time for that.
“And if I give them feedback, it's not stern … if everything was stern, do you think these kids would be growing? I'll leave it with you. That's probably stern feedback.”
