St Kilda have set their sights on Bulldog Zaine Cordy, who remains a free agent at the end of 2022.

Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, reporter Damian Barrett revealed St Kilda's interest in the key defender.

"It has emerged that the Saints are after Zaine Cordy from the Bulldogs. He is an unrestricted free agent," he said.

"I can tell you there has been some Saints interest in him."

The Western Bulldogs are close to acquiring defender Liam Jones through free agency, which could make way for Cordy's exit to St Kilda.

Across eight seasons, Cordy has played 118 games, beginning his AFL career as a forward before switching to his natural key back position.

St Kilda could see the 25-year-old as both a key defender and extra tall forward who is able to support their developing star Max King, while he can also fill a void in defence.

Cordy has been a regular starter in the Western Bulldogs backline, playing in two Grand Finals in his career.
