Former AFL recruiter Matt Rendell has slammed the GWS Giants, claiming the midfield group is a "Ferrari and Lamborghini rolled into one" and "should never lose a game".

"I just said to myself – what have GWS been doing this season? This midfield should never lose a game," Rendell told SEN SA’s The Run Home.

"They’re a Ferrari and a Lamborghini rolled into one, you’re never going to see that again where your seven mids average as pick six in the draft.

"They’ve been so poor. I don’t know why."

The Giants beat up the Crows at the weekend, defeating the South Australian side by 59 points, which was seemingly an expected result for Rendell when considering the seven principal midfielders from each side.

Rendell highlighted the average draft positions between the two sides' midfielders, revealing that GWS' was "ridiculously high" at pick six, while the Adelaide Crows' was pick 37.

"Seven mids for the Crows, seven mids for GWS. The average draft number for the seven GWS mids is pick six. That’s unbelievable. Ridiculously high. Their game average was 126 between those seven players," he added.

“When I say the Crows’ midfielders’ average draft position was 37, they haven’t got those top-liners."

Rendell, who served as Adelaide's recruiting manager from 2007-2012 before moving to Collingwood, also suggested the Crows should go after young Giant Conor Stone at the end of the season.
