The seriousness of Western Bulldogs star Sam Darcy's knee injury has been revealed, with scans revealing the key forward has ruptured his ACL.

The injury means he will miss the remainder of the season, and it is a rough blow to both Darcy and the club.

Darcy had scans on his left knee on Saturday after he injured it during Friday night's Round 6 match with Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

“We're incredibly disappointed for Sam after scans confirmed he has ruptured his ACL,” Bulldogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell said.

“He's an extremely driven individual, and we have no doubt he'll attack his rehabilitation strongly in the coming months."

Bulldogs' key defensive pairing, Rory Lobb and James O'Donnell, also got scans on their injured hamstrings on Saturday, with Lobb escaping any serious damage.

Add Tom Liberatore (concussion) from Friday night, and Tim English and the Bulldogs' injury list is bleak reading as the club prepares for tough matches against Sydney and Fremantle.

Darcy has kicked 101 goals from his 51 games and was expected to stamp his name on the competition in 2026 and emerge as one of the league's best players.

The 208cm talent had an injury-impacted start to the year, kicking 12 goals from his six games.
