St Kilda ruckman, Tom Hickey, has escaped serious injury after sustaining a knee injury in the VFL over the weekend.
However, while he has avoided the ACL injury, Hickey is still expected to miss four to six weeks with a medial strain.
“There were initial fears that he may have damaged the ACL but scans yesterday cleared him of that,” St Kilda's General Manager off Football Jamie Cox said.
“Tom will begin his rehab immediately and is likely to be sidelined for four to six weeks as recovers from the medial strain.
“While obviously disappointed to be sidelined for a few weeks, at the same time he acknowledges that the prognosis is much more positive than initially feared.”
Hickey has spent the past two playing for Sandringham in the VFL after playing the opening four games in the senior side. He missed round five with general soreness.
