St Kilda football manager Jamie Cox has confirmed the Saints are in the market for superstars Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly.

Martin will be a free agent at the end of the season while Kelly will be out of contract with the Giants, and Cox said the club will enter discussions with the pair in the future.

"We've been out there publicly to say that this stage of out list development that we'll happily enter these discussions, but (negotiations) won't play out publicly," Cox told SEN on Tuesday morning.

Cox also confirmed St Kilda have officially dropped out of the race for Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe, after it was reported over the weekend.

'We're certainty not chasing Nat," Cox said.

"I think I can confirm that, and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure how hard the chase was from the start."

Cox also touched on the playing future of Saints veterans Nick Riewoldt and Leigh Montagna, and said negotiations on new contracts for the pair were yet to get underway.

"Those conversations start at the back end of the season, and I know in both their cases they're just determined to play strong footy and hopefully get us into finals," Cox said.

'It's not really my call (on new contracts), it's a club call.

"I know this decision will be made in the best interests of the club, so it's something we'll sit down as a group and determine in discussion with Nick, Joe (Montagna) and their management."
