St Kilda have entered the race for GWS midfielder Tom Scully.

The former pick 1 has told the Giants he wants to return to Victoria and has nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination, according to AFL.com.au.

However St Kilda have expressed their interest in the Giants midfielder.

"We’ve sounded out his management," Gallagher told Macquarie Sports Radio.

"We think Tom would be an absolutely perfect fit for us."

Scully was selected by Melbourne with pick 1 in the 2009 Draft. He played 31 games for the Demons before switching to GWS in 2012.

The 27-year-old has played 121 games for the Giants, but played only one game in 2018 due to a fractured ankle.

The Saint's have pick 4 in this years draft but are unlikely to trade the pick.

St Kilda have been one of the biggest players in the trade period, having already signed Sydney vice-captain Dan Hannebery and Melbourne speedster Dean Kent.
