St Kilda forward Max King is a chance to play his first game of competitive footy in 667 days this weekend.

King has been listed as a test, having not played since Round 16 2024 due to a knee reconstruction, followed by a calf injury.

He has been building his loads in recent weeks with the Saints keen to ensure he is given every opportunity to get an uninterrupted block of games.

Whether he returns through the VFL or AFL is at this stage unconfirmed.

“Max has worked through a solid block of conditioning and contact training as he builds towards his return after missing a significant period of football,” GM of Football, Lenny Hayes said.

“Throughout what's been a challenging period, he's shown strong resilience and commitment to getting his body back to where it needs to be.”

“We'll continue to lean on the advice of our high-performance team and won't take any unnecessary risks, but he's given himself every chance to be available this week.”

Contracted until the end of 2032, King has kicked 159 goals in 83 games.
