Former Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold has bounced back from his sacking in the NRL to switch codes, joining Collingwood in a surprise role.

Seibold was moved on by the Sea Eagles just three rounds into a horror start to the 2026 season.

"The last couple of weeks I've been doing a little bit of work for Collingwood. I know the head coach (Craig McRae) very well," Seibold said on Channel Seven's Agenda Setters: Rugby League program.

"I've been done there a couple of times so I'm going to have a small role there for the rest of the season."

It is understood Seibold will be working closely with the Pies' coaches and football department staff in a part-time role, assisting with their off-field development.

Collingwood senior coach Craig McRae and Seibold have a close relationship.

Seibold was a senior NRL since the end of 2017, taking on the top job at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

A year later, he moved to the Brisbane Broncos, before joining the Sea Eagles ahead of the 2023 season.

Seibold isn't the only cross-coder in the AFL, with Melbourne Storm great Ryan Hoffman currently working at Melbourne with Steven King.

Hoffman was brought in as a leadership consultant and is working on a part-time basis.

NRL legend Billy Slater previously linked up with St Kilda.

Going back the other way, McRae previously spent time with the Storm, as did Joel Selwood and Nick Maxwell.

Hawthorn also tapped into the insight of North Queensland Cowboys coach Todd Payten.
