Essendon defender Adam Saad impressively closed off Eddit Betts' usual scoring output in their season opener against the Crows and is looking forward to the same challenge against Fremantle's small forwards.

Saad didn't concede a single goal on Betts, who was his primary match-up last Friday night. His defense proved to be instrumental in the Bombers' victory, amping up the pressure in the final term.

After coming from the Gold Coast Suns last season, Saad seems to have settled in comfortably in the Bombers back line and the team will be seeking similar success on Saturday night.

"I've got no idea [who I'll take], whoever the coaches want me to play on I'll play on," Saad told the media on Tuesday.

"They're crafty and very smart as well, but if we can bring our team defence it'll go a long way to winning the game."

Fremantle have a plethora of goal kicking threats up forward; Michael Walters, Hayden Ballantyne and Brandon Matera will be looking to wreak havoc at the hands of the Bombers' defense.

Saad will be playing his 50th AFL game this weekend and will be looking to stop any Fremantle forwards from spoiling his first milestone.
