For the second round in a row, Essendon were the team to cause the biggest shock of last weekend as they defeated GWS 60-95. Just 19% of Superbru AFL tippers correctly predicted that outcome in a round that saw the average tipper manage just under 6 correct outcomes out of eight.

As usual, in these insights we’ll be looking ahead to the coming weekend’s round and what the Superbru crowd are tipping on average to be the result in each fixture. Essendon will have yet another opportunity to cause an upset as they face a strong Richmond side at home in Round 11.

Sydney Swans vs. Carlton

We start Round 11 with a fixture that looks like a foregone conclusion at Superbru. More than 99% are tipping the Swans! Carlton have only won once this season and the heavy average margin tip of Swans by 33 suggests that isn’t changing this week.

Western Bulldogs vs. Melbourne

Melbourne have hit some outstanding form of late, particularly in their last two where they won with monster margins. This game could be a similar story judging by the fact that 92% of ‘brus’ are tipping them to beat the Western Bulldogs.

Hawthorn vs. Port Adelaide

Completely contrasting the round opener, this game looks to be a real nail biter. There’s a very slight majority of 53% tipping Port Adelaide to pick up an away win against Hawthorn and the minute average margin tip suggests they’ll do so by a single point. Judging by the crowd, you may as well flip a coin for this one.

Gold Coast Suns vs. Geelong Cats

No coin flipping required here. 95% are tipping the Cats to beat Gold Coast and do so strongly. The Suns have gone through all of May without a win.

Essendon vs. Richmond

The big game of the weekend (at least in terms of Superbru upsets) sees Essendon look to make it three wins on the bounce against a Richmond side we all know are decent. 93% are backing the obvious favourites but Rounds 9 and 10 have shown that the 7% backing Essendon have reason to believe!

West Coast Eagles vs. St. Kilda

There isn’t much reason to believe here if you’re tipping St. Kilda. Fortunately, not many of you are - less than 1% in fact! West Coast have over 99% of the crowd backing them and an average margin tip suggesting they’ll win by 40.

North Melbourne Kangaroos vs. Brisbane Lions

Like Carlton, the Lions have only won once this season and are unlikely to do so again this weekend. 97% are backing North Melbourne.

Collingwood vs. Fremantle

97% is also the percentage of people tipping Collingwood to win this Sunday as they face Fremantle at the MCG. If the crowd are correct, this will be Collingwood’s third win on the spin.

Adelaide Crows vs. GWS

Finally, it’s no surprise to also see a heavy majority backing the Adelaide Crows for the final game in this weekend’s AFL round as they face GWS who haven’t won in four. 95% are tipping the Crows and the average margin tip stands at 20.
