Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has ensured the debut selection of recent pick five Adam Cerra in this weekend’s clash with Essendon at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 50-point round one loss to Port Adelaide by introducing more fresh blood.

Lyon confirmed to Chanel 7 news on Tuesday that Cerra will be unveiled this Saturday night and hinted at a second debutant.

“We’re certain Adam Cerra will play,” Lyon said.

“I urge all our members and fans to get along. He’s pick number five in the draft so you get to see Cerra and (Andrew) Brayshaw, our picks two and five and possibly another debutant.”

Lyon expects to see defender Joel Hamling return to the side and was “really hopeful” of Stephen Hill's inclusion.

“(Hamling) had a back injury, he missed a fair bit of football (training),” Lyon said.

“Some things hadn’t gone his way. He would have played at Peel the week before but he hadn’t been able to because of his back, so he just needed a game under his belt (at Peel) and we’re hopeful he’ll play a role this week.”

Lyon was positive about the young brigade coming through the ranks with Peel Thunder and suggests the future is bright.

“Our young players, we think we’ve got a really exciting young batch,” Lyon said.

“We’re really excited and we need to expose them and bring them through.”.

Lyon was pleased with his side’s effort against the Power despite going down by such a large margin.

“It was a disappointing outcome but our effort was really strong,” he said.

“If anything, we tried to blow them out of the water early and went over the hill a little bit.

“It’s a performance industry and we’d like to have performed better.”
