Young Brisbane tall Ty Gallop is looking at a stint on the sidelines after an incident involving Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades in Sunday's game against Port Adelaide.
The incident occurred off the ball in the second quarter, with Gallop slamming Georgiades' into the turf.
After executing a legal tackle on the Port Adelaide spearhead, Gallop then lifts Georgiades up by his guernsey and slams him into the turf, with his face appearing to make significant contact with the turf.
Gallop is looking at two weeks on the sidelines as a minimum, with the action to be graded as intentional and high contact. If the match review officer deems the action to be medium impact, he will receive two weeks.
However, the callousness of the action will not work in his favour.
It was an unnecessary off the ball action which has quickly been widely condemned as a bad look for the game.
Georgiades was not concussed in the incident but Port Adelaide will undoubtedly keep a close eye on any delayed symptoms given he missed last week due to a concussion suffered in Round 18.
The league has cracked down on any incident involving head-high contact in recent times as it grapples with how to best manage concussion.
Gallop was part of Brisbane's 2025 premiership-winning side as a forward but has played mostly as a defender this year in his 16 games.
