North Melbourne are set to welcome the Archer name back to Arden Street this off-season, with Jackson, son of club great Glenn, nominating as a father-son selection for the upcoming National Draft.
The Northern Knights defender is set to follow in the footsteps of his father - who played 311 games for the 'Shinboners' - after the club confirmed the lodgement of the required paperwork this week.
Jackson is likely to land in the later rounds of the 2021 AFL Draft, however the teenager's nomination will now allow the Kangaroos to match any earlier bid.
North Melbourne football boss Brady Rawlings expressed his excitement in having Archer commit to the club.
โWeโve naturally kept a close eye on Jackson and heโs worked hard to earn this opportunity,โ Rawlings said in a club statement.
โWhen you see him play you know straight away whose son he is. Heโs aggressive and highly competitive โ itโs a good foundation to build on in todayโs footy.โ
Archer is set to join the likes of Luke McDonald, Bailey Scott and Joel Crocker in being recent father-son selections to join North Melbourne.
The Kangaroos currently hold Picks 1, 20, 42, 47, 72 and 77 for the 2021 AFL Draft.
