Untried Demons trio Judd McVee, Andy Moniz-Wakefield and Deakyn Smith have signed new Melbourne contracts to remain at the club for another year.

McVee, an East Fremantle product, was selected by the Demons with Pick 18 at the 2021 Rookie Draft.

Moniz-Wakefield, an 18-year-old midfielder hailing from the Northern Territory, was signed by Melbourne as a Category B Rookie prior to the beginning of this season.

The 19-year-old Smith, similar to Moniz-Wakefield, was rookie-listed after being signed by the club during the pre-season and has played 14 games for the Casey Demons in 2022.

Demons list manager Tim Lamb had promising things to say about all three youngsters.

"Deakyn has shown a lot of improvement in his time with us and we are confident that his terrific attitude and work ethic will see his natural talent continue to shine through," Lamb told melbournefc.com.au.

"Judd has adjusted to life as a professional athlete really well and we are starting to see his confidence grow and his game improve on the back of that. He has all the tools to be a really good player.

"Andy has fitted in really well and had an instant impact on the group. We have seen snippets of what he can produce and with another pre-season under his belt, we are excited about what the future holds for him."

McVee, Moniz-Wakefield and Smith join Melbourne premiership duo Clayton Oliver and Angus Brayshaw in re-committing to the club this year.
