Western Bulldogs defender Fletcher Roberts has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension that will see him remain a Bulldog until at least the end of the 2019 season.

The premiership defender has grown from strength to strength since making his debut for the Bulldogs in round 20, 2012, and Dogs list manager Jason McCartney told the club's website on Tuesday they were pleased to have locked Roberts into a deal.

“We’ve been really encouraged by Fletcher’s development as a tall defender since he came to us in 2012, particularly the last 12 months," McCartney said.

“Fletcher reads the play well and regularly leads the side in one percenters, which is a tribute to how hard he works for his teammates.

“We look forward to watching him grow as a footballer over the next couple of years.”

Roberts has played 46 games for the Bulldogs over his six-year career, which included 18 appearances in their premiership winning season.
