Emerging Saints star Jade Gresham has signed a four-year extension to remain at the club.

The 21-year-old was due to come out of contract at the end of the season, but has now re-upped with St Kilda through the 2023 season.

It was understood that he wanted to see how the team performed before inking any deal.

“I love the direction we’re heading, and I'm rapt to be a part of it for the long term," he told saints.com.au.

Through seven games this season, the Saints have won four games, already matching their 2018 win total.

Gresham has been incredibly durable throughout his short career, playing in 69 games and only missing four since being recruited while averaging 21 disposals and and a goal in 2019.

“Jade is a key part of a strong nucleus of young talent on our list, and his signature demonstrates great faith in what we are building at the club," said St Kilda List Manager James Gallagher.

"[Jade is] starting to really stamp himself on our team, and the competition more broadly, so it is exciting to have a player of his calibre commit to the club long term,” Gallagher said.

He has had many big performances thus far this season, including a round two showing against Essendon with 25 disposals, 12 contested possessions, five clearances, five inside 50s and two goals.

Gresham will play in his 70th game with the red, white and black on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium against the Eagles.
