All-Australian Tiger Shai Bolton has added another five years to his contract at Punt Road, with the Richmond star signing on until the end of the 2028 season.

Already tied to the yellow and black until the end of next year, Bolton and the Tigers have agreed to a new long-term contract before to the 24-year-old could enter 2023 off-contract.

On Tuesday Richmond confirmed Bolton's signature, with the Western Australian stating the decision to re-sign was an easy one.

“I have loved the Club since I got drafted. I love the culture here, all the boys, the coaching staff and playing at the MCG,” Bolton told richmondfc.com.au.

“It was pretty easy to decide in the end… I am super excited to stay here.”

Bolton enjoyed a career-best campaign in 2022, earning All-Australian honours and finishing fourth in the Tigers' best and fairest voting for the third straight year.

Richmond talent manager Blair Hartley expressed his delight in retaining Bolton for the long haul.

Shai is such an important part of our football program because of the person and player he is, so to have him commit for the next five years is brilliant news for everyone involved,” he said.

“He has worked tirelessly to elevate his game in each season he's had with us. We are excited about what he can achieve individually and with us as a team as he continues to flourish as a footballer and leader.

“This contract rewards Shai's hard work, and we are delighted to have him and his family at the Club for another five years.”

Bolton joins fellow Richmond stars Liam Baker (2024), Daniel Rioli (2027) and Jayden Short (2027) in being among 18 players to recommit to Richmond this year alone.
