Richmond have confirmed that Jacob Hopper will be sidelined for the "medium-term" after suffering a soleus strain in Friday night's win over Geelong.

Hopper was substituted from the game in the second half of the 24-point win, replaced on the field by Judson Clark, with scans now confirming the extent of the injury.

The 26-year-old has played eight games for Richmond since joining the club on a seven year deal in 2022's trade period, averaging 22.9 disposals and 4.8 clearances per game.

Hopper is now expected to be sidelined for weeks, but the Tigers are hoping to have both Toby Nankervis (ankle) and Tylar Young (leg) available for selection for Round 10.

Maurice Rioli (hamstring) and Tom Brown (wrist) remain listed as short-term on Richmond's injury list, while Hopper joins Ivan Soldo (foot), Seth Campbell (adductor) and Josh Gibcus (hamstring) as medium-term prospects.

Richmond will face Essendon on Saturday night in the annual Dreamtime at the G match, scheduled for 7:40pm AEST.
