Richmond Adem Yze has expressed excitement following a sweep of re-signatures at Tigerland this week.
Sam Lalor committing until the end of 2029 was the cherry on top of a week which also had Taj Hotton (2029), Harry Armstrong (2029), Jonty Faull (2029) and Tom Lynch (2027) extending their time in the yellow and black.
“Those young lads committing to our footy club while we're going through what we're going through has been outstanding,” Yze said on Friday.
“That young crew that are going to be the nucleus of our team moving forward, for them to commit to not only our footy club but our program and show faith in what we're doing, they're going to be a massive part of that and ‘Lynchy' signing for another year guiding those young lads through the early part of their careers is just as important.
“When you get that across the line and get that commitment from high talent, it's a really important day for our footy club. Their growth and their improvement is going to be the reason we fight our way back up the ladder.

“They're driving a lot of the culture and standards and they're the reasons why, especially in some of our wins this year or competitive games, they've been the reasons why.”
The re-signatures are welcome relief for the Tigers as speculation had swirled around Lalor in particular, linked to Tasmania, and external concern grew due to Richmond not extending any of their first round picks from 2024 until this week.
Richmond has won just three games this season, another one struck by a lack of availability which Yze admitted had hampered the rebuilding phase.
“Other players are getting opportunity through that but no doubt it does (set you back),” he said.
“You're planning on players right now who could have played 40-odd games but Sam Lalor has played 16 games and Taj has played 13 so we want to fast track and we need players out on the field to fast track our rebuild.”
