According to reports from Triple M's Tom Browne, Geelong has stepped out of the race for GWS midfielder Stephen Coniglio.

Coniglio is one of the hottest properties on the market this off-season, with the free agent considering a move to Victoria.

GWS are still slightly favoured to keep Coniglio, while clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn and Carlton were heading up the list of potential suitors.

However, Browne believes the Cats have pulled themselves out of the race for now, although with just under four months until the free agency period begins, there's still plenty of time for Geelong to re-enter the chase.

“I’ve just got a little bit of a trade whisper this morning that Geelong perhaps is at the moment out of the race for Coniglio,” Browne said on Triple M on Friday.

“I know it’s very early in the season, but I’m just getting a bit of a word there.”
