St Kilda has reportedly decided against pursuing the signature of Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin, believing the cost for the 25-year-old is just too high.

Fox Sports reports the Saints have withdrawn from the race for Martin, with a deal for the midfielder looking to be up around the $1 million a year mark, something that may be out of reach for the Victorian club.

Martin is said to be high on the wish list of many other clubs around the country, although the Tigers are understood to believe they have him sown up.

A deal worth around $800,000 a season was reportedly offered to Martin by Richmond and the club firmly believe that he will wear the yellow and black in 2018.
